We've noticed that there is a ton of interventions available for reading but
not many for math.
How your district is deciding which kids need interventions sounds a lot
like how my district decides for reading. Yes, it is very possible for
several students in your class to have individual plans.
We have two regular ed teachers on our SAT - one primary teacher and one
intermediate teacher. The Special Ed teacher is the one who organizes
things so we consider her in charge during the meetings. Actually, almost
everyone at the meeting has a job - similar to cooperative learning groups.

We were concerned that we were depending on DIBELS too much also because of
the fact that there really isn't a comprehension part (I'm 5th grade and
most of our kids are pretty fluent by then). So, we convinced our principal
to switch to AIMSweb for next year. They have a comprehension part. The

I think there are differences and similarities between guided reading and
literature circles. To begin with, during GR the text is picked by the

I didn't realize that the benchmarks set for DIBELS are only at the 35%ile.
I wonder why they wouldn't set them higher than that because they seem kind

benchmarks for 4th and 5th grades?

AIMSweb is similar to DIBELS but has a lot more information. It gives
information on reading and math - along with reading comprehension and math
problem solving. It does have a progress monitoring component. We've been

I did something this year that has really helped my 5th grade class. We've

What are the other RTI models? You're right - we implemented RTI about 2-3
