My name is Jen and I am new to the site and this is my first posting. Here is
one of the questions that I would like to present to this group. I pre-student
taught in a first grade classroom last semester and keeping them in a low-risk

I am having trouble helping the little boy I am tutoring with 'sight words'.
They just do not stick with him and I feel like I am tried many different
approaches. Week after week he fails his spelling tests (he has to be able to
identify the word and then spell it) and we work with those words w

Hello, my name is Ray and I am a student at Wayne State University. I was
wondering. Is there a way to prevent a student with an advanced reading
comprehension level from thinking he/she is better than students at a lesser
reading comprehension level?

I know this is off topic from reading, but we are using Envisions, too. You
are talking about the Scott Foresman Envisions, right? It is very difficult to
understand and you are right, it doesn't give kids time to understand. What
pieces do you use? You can e-mail me offline.

Reading Recovery, which was one of the programs criticized by the
Reading First people. heh.
