I'm wondering why I'm not getting any posts. Are we quiet or did something
happen at my end? Would someone please respond to this on the group site
and also individually so that I know if I'm receiving emails.

and Cold Summer," "Frindle", and "Henry and Risby." My kids are really
enjoying it. I am working on getting them to think deeper about their
OK, I'll check in. I've just started book clubs in my 3rd grade class, after
spending the first part of the year doing more targeted guided reading in small
gruops along with large gruop and conferences. And I'm SO tickled that it's
working well! Last year was the first year I started book clu

Thanks for sharing your inference work with your Grade 2 students. I had to
stop and agree with what you say below. I too like to choose books or other
text that are connected to a social issue. Not only does it bring the
classroom community closer but it also makes children recogn

I, too, am inspired when Ginger posts her thoughts and experiences with

I wonder, too, what the implications are for changing the face of staff
meetings. What if, every now and again, we started
with a short, provactive piece of text or a mathematical challenge to remind us
all how good it feels to get our juices flowing?

my inspriations for becoming a teacher - she also started her education late,
and proved to me that it was possible). She had taught for a few years before
becoming an administrator. About the time I was beginni
Ginger,
I get so inspired by your insight. I am truly rethinking my position
as an administrator. My superintendent came for his quarterly meeting
and, of course, the ONLY topic was our testing scores. When I hear, and
see, the power that we have as teachers to make each and every
