I had a junco hit my office window today. It was laying outside on its side
quivering with its eyes closed. I had read on the list serve to hold them
and keep them warm. I did this for about 15 minutes. At one point it
opened its eyes and lifted its head so I thought it hadn't broken its neck.
This morning I found two RED-THROATED LOONS from the north end of Brighton
Beach. The Red-throated Loons were seen swimming together, at a great

The photo doesn't do the scope views justice, but note the upturned bill,

At Lakewood Cemetery (on Lake Byllesby) late this morning I found an
Orange-crowned Warbler amid a bunch of Yellow-rumped Warblers.
I also had brief glimpses of the Willet and American Avocet that others

Has anyone else seen this bird? I put a photo from last evening up on
Showcase. I'd be grateful for any thoughts on its identity since I'm

doesn't seem right for the typical B. c. parvipes or B. h. hutchinsii, and

Three of us had decided (through the snow and rain-that's an excuse) that
the single White Goose was probably a Ross's Goose.) Sorry to put others
out for a Snow Goose. John Ellis

This AM I birded the Hyland Lake area between the north shore of the lake up to

snowbank and a woman was taking a picture of it. There is a large field near
this area so it may be hunting around the edges. Molly Thompson
