A friend of mine lives near Hinckley and has found several pine siskins
dead in her yard. There is no visible sign of injury and she is wondering
if there might be some reason - like maybe weather-related - to cause this.
Thanks for any thoughts.

I have only seen a handful, and most years I see dozens just on the street

anyone else noticed this?

I was in my yard and happened to look up and a group of at least 20
nighthawks was going overhead. One called, otherwise I would have missed
them altogether. South Minneapolis near the Lake Street bridge, about 3

This morning I was astonished to see a sora at the Menard's in St. Paul.
It was in the outdoor nursery and just walking around pretty calmly looking
for things to eat. It has to be my most unusual spotting!

There are a lot of hackberries and crabapples in my neighborhood, so the
robins have been hanging around all winter. I have a heated birdbath, and
the last couple of weeks it has just been flooded with robins - one time I
counted 19 in and near the birdbath, and more in nearby trees. The only

the impending storms. This seems very unusual. Has anyone run into this
behavior with barn swallows or any other species? I have done some cursory
searching online and find nothing about this, and it seems very interesting.
Thanks.
