I found one Snowy Owl this morning in southwestern Big Stone County and
another near the Minnesota River in northern Lac qui Parle County. One was
on a fencepost along the roadside and the other was further out in a field

very reliable snowy in rice county close to Nerstrand big woods park. I've
seen it each of 5 times I've been. BUT it is almost always 300-400 yards

Wednesday there was a Snowy Owl a couple miles SE of Welcome. To the best
of my knowledge that bird has not been relocated.
At 9:30 am today there was a Snowy Owl along MN Hwy 60 just south of the
County 9 exit (on an exit sign) for Madelia. At 4:30 pm, this same bird was
at the intersection of
Late yesterday afternoon there were 4 snowy owls along MN 11 near
Donaldson, MN. 2 were east of town a couple of miles and 2 were west of
town about one 1/2 miles. Three of the birds had barring, one of the birds
west of town looked to be an adult male.

If you are in the Duluth area and want to see Snowy Owls, the best places to go
are the Harbor in Duluth and the best spot is around the Murphy Oil Refinery in
Superior. We saw one near Superior High School and another at Murphy Oil. There

Warren yesterday. Sharp-tailed Grouse on the beach ridge, Northern
Harriers, Rough-legged Hawks, Bald Eagles, Swans in the air, a few Snow

Goodhue Co. It was on a telephone pole on Co Rd 16, about 3 miles west of

I have spent many hours watching the ones down here in Dakota County.
Unfortunately I have also seen people going way too close to the owls and have
heard of people baiting them with mice.

searching for Snowy Owls today.
Early this afternoon, I relocated the Snowy that Ron Erpelding had reported
on February 2nd from NE Pope County. The owl was in exactly the same
location as it had been when Ron found it
I was able to relocate one of the Snowy Owls in Sibley County around 11:30
this morning. It was along CR9 south of Arlington, perched on a power pole
alongside the driveway for fire number 25786. Presumably this is the same
bird that Denny Martin found yesterday.

Yesterday morning while at break, a co-worker mentioned to me that he and his
brother had found a Snowy Owl on Sunday (Feb. 2nd) while coyote hunting. I
eventually met up with Andrew Nyhus and Dedrick Benz Monday afternoon (Feb.

CR28 a mile west of CR2 (N of Atwater). It was SW of the intersection of
CR28 and the road 1mi from CR2. Afterwards, I drove through the area of

This morning I took my 3 oldest children (6, 5, 2 years old) to hunt for snowy
owls. We found 2! The first was on Becker Co 13, 1/4 mile south of Becker Co
14. It was perched on a power pole. All three kids saw it through the window
mounted spotting scope. It only took 25 minutes to find.
It's been interesting to read all the "local" sightings of snowy owls these
last weeks. Apparently this winter's influx of the visitors is not a regional
phenomenon; this story aired on tonight's CBS news - lots of snowies visiting

After the balmy temps yesterday left me shut out for snowy owls, in Dakota
County, today's deep freeze returned a bounty of 5 snowy owls in about 2.5
hours. This included one that landed on the ground pretty close to Hogan and
let many cars worth of birders get great views and photographs.
My son and I found 2 snowy's between 8:30 and 9 this morning. One was on an
irrigation device west of Goodwill Av between 170th and 180th street. The
other was in a field east of St Augustine cemetery on 170th just west of

from 3:30-5:00pm today. The two Snowy Owls we observed both had adult

This is crazy. I don't see a Snowy Owl in Morrison County for years and now

are several. A new spot and it is an immature. On Minn 27 East of Lastrup
between 4 3/4 to 5 miles. Have not relocated but if someone is out there, try
