Completely agree with Richard here. This is a very realistic problem and I
have not found any good solutions so far besides my own memory!

(a) Structure your outline by two top-level-parents (let's say "active
system" and "someday/maybe") and use the zoom function to focus on "active
system" only.
(b) Or, activate "Hide the branch in to-do" and you at least won't see

Just a very small change I've made recently but which seems to make
life a bit easier. In [Tools/Options/General Application Options/
Hotkeys/View/Toggle Task List Task Notes] change the hotkey to a
semicolon (;). C'mon guys who uses a semicolon these days! For the

I am trying to assign the above key sequence to a flag and it appears to be
hard wired to the Select All function (along with Ctrl+A) - which does not
appear in the list of Commands for which you can adjust the Hotkey settings.

Ctrl+A is reserved. Ctrl+Shift+A shouldn't be a problem. If it's
appearing in your existing hotkeys already then clear or re-assign.
Make sure in the Manage Flags dialogue box that you have the required
flag selected, that you have clicked in the hotkey box and that you
press Ctrl+Shift+A simultane
Sorry ignore that - brain fade on my part. It looks as if Ctrl+Shift
+A is (by default) assigned to Select All but you can assign it to
other things (in my case a flag) in the normal way without a problem.

There are two methods usually used to hide tasks in the Todo view: the GTD
derived way and the MLO one.
For the GTD derivation create a context of @Someday. Then add that context
to any task that you don't wish to view. Now you filter out tasks that
contain the @Someday context in

Following on from my original idea, another thing while it's in my
head...
Tasks displaying in the calendar could be highlighted where it's
impossible to complete it in that time slot (ie by/from the Due date).
For example I need to buy a Thing by Sunday evening, but the context
is not open then.
Seems the Due Date and Time Required would work as well. One would
have to decide whether to use the Min or Max field to mark the end of
a meeting. The way MLO has it's date/time fields defined works great
for Tasks that have due dates and times, but isn't ideal for modeling
appointments/meetings
This is a great platform. I've been following Paul Thurott's coverage
and this is going to be big I think. Beautiful hardware it is being
released on too.
