Two extremes. I wouldn't recommend using FileMaker as a
front end to MySQL through a plug-in or ODBC.

Hi,
Want to import filemaker pro table data on Windows to MySQL database on
Linux.
Export from filemaker pro could be made in the following formats.
SYLK files (*.slk), DBF files (*.dbf), DIF files (*.dif), Lotus 1-2-3 files
(*.wk1), Basic files (*.bas), Merge files (*.mer), HTML table
format--the default is not a format that MySQL can translate.

If you want a one-time transfer, the simple and cheap way is through
some sort of text file; CVS or tab-delimited, for example.
If you want the two databases

No, I want to just go from FileMaker to MySQL, period. Forever. End of story.
I'm tired of paying "FileMaker Tax" every year. (The version upgrade went from
$149 to $199 this year.) I'm
you are doing. I might be able to help a little.

I never actually looked into it. There are so many "work arounds" I need
to do in FileMaker that I just redesign the tables in MySQL.
If there isn't a FileMaker converter, I'm sure there is a DBF converter.
You can just save you FileMaker databases as DBF and then convert them.

Before I go and write one, does anyone know of any tools to create MySQL tables from
FMP databases?
All that I've seen are commercial products that synch the two, but the MySQL tables
have to already exist. (I have hundreds of columns that I'd rather not key in
manually!)

I'd love to know if there's a way to import my FMP data
Anyone know of any nice tools for porting a database from FileMaker Pro to MySQL? I've
searched around a bit, and haven't seen anything in the usual FMP places.
I think I could figure out moving the data, but I don't want to have to re-create the
schema if there's an easier

Do you have any experience with Perl? Perhaps a quick script would convert
your tab delimited files to the proper format? Bradley

Hi all,
I apologise if this question has been asked recently; I have checked the
list archives and could not see anything. This is my problem:
I am trying to convert and import a fairly convoluted Filemaker Pro 5
database to MySQL. I have exported the filemaker records as tab delimited
files
I was so excited to see that the latest FileMaker Pro finally supports SQL
stuff built in, but was disheartened to see that I could only use it with
Oracle and a couple other commercial servers. Is anyone out there working
on a mysql plugin for 5.5? FileMaker would seemingly be an awesome way
