Hello
I am not a Perl programmer (or anything like one), and (honestly) am not
completely sure this is where I should post my observation/question; but, I
think the perl net::snmp module is where the problem lies, so I decided to try
here first.
In any case, I have recently decided to get snmp wo

Hi Experts,
I would like to seek help in making the net-snmp work to my win08r2 system. I
am not sure if I am really getting the correct download file for Windows server
2008 r2 environment as I am always receiving an "appcrash" error when I'm
registering the daemon as a windows service.

Net-SNMP is not working fine on all the machines.
The below command fails on some machines:
snmpwalk -c public -v2c localhost
Can you please let us know how to proceed? and what might be causing
the failure of this command.

Which version of the code were you trying to build?

Hi, all
I build Net-SNMP by the way of "Microsoft Visual C++ - Workspace -
Building" according readme.win32, but failed -_-://
My environment is : WinXP SP2, VC6.
I can build sucessfully by the way of "Microsoft Visual C++ - Configure

From RFC 1901, Section 3:

I'm actually surprised that you get a timeout with SNMPv3 though.
I thought that should return a REPORT PDU. But Wes is the SNMPv3
expert, not me - and I don't really have the time to investigate properly
just at the moment.
maybe the snmpd is down or the listening port is not the one

This is basically due to the access control settings of the agent.
It will refuse to talk to an unauthorised client.

Not using those commands, no.
The errors you mention are *only* relevant
Hi,
what's the command you typed?
try like these:
snmpget -v1 -c public localhost system
snmpget -v1 -c public localhost sysName.0
etc.
(you should add " rwcommunity public" to snmpd.conf, and restart snmpd)
what will you see after that ?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I have already tried those you have mentioned.
But the problem is NET-SNMP does not report error messages properly. It

Hi,
Have you ever run snmpget, snmpgetnext etc. to get a non-exist OID ?
just look at the output carefully and maybe you would get what you want.

Is there a way to capture SNMP v2 error codes [ noAccess (6) ,

Hi all,
I beleive that SNMP v2c has quite robust way of reporting errors. It
has 13 error codes. But does net-snmp has support for handling these error
codes. Whenever an "snmpget" command is issued, the command returns "0" or
"1" depending upon success or failure of the command. But how do
