Hi,
When I try to start the snmpd /usr/local/etc/rc.d/snmpd start or
/usr/local/sbin/snmpd -c /etc/snmpd.config -A, I get the following error
in snmpd.log :

Hello net-snmp support,
I have since a few days the problem, I could not start snmpd.
If I try to restart the service I get following error:
/etc/init.d/snmpd restart
* Restarting network management services:
/usr/sbin/snmpd: symbol
To enable error log I put the following entries in file
/etc/snmp/snmpd.conf before rstarting snmp daemon
[snmp] doDebugging 1
[snmp] debugTokens agent/agentx/config/trap/table
[snmp] logTimestamp true
Then when I restarted snmpd it is throwing the errors like
trace: read_config():

That's an odd error and the text comes from the system failing a DNS
lookup most likely. What if you add xyz.abc.att.com to
machine.

My assumption/intention of using snmpTrapdAddr is that,
i would like to get trap messages from xyz machine.
(means, get trap messages from xyz machine only).

1) Please let me know the use of snmpTrapdAddr. My
understanding on snmpTrapdAddr is that, it should always bind
to localhost(loop back address(127.0.0.1))
No.
I compiled 5.4.1 on win32 with cygwin, have the error messages running the
agent. With the error messages, I can locate the module files (ended with .txt)
under c:/snmp54/share/snmp/mibs. I guess the agent should know the mibs
location but I'm not sure. There are 57 module files under
I examined further under c:/snmp54/share/snmp/mibs, some of them may not be
considered as a mib file, like RFC-1215.txt. May be I can conclude that the
agent simply doesn't know where the mibs are. My question will be, how can I
make the agent (the snmpd daemon) know where the mibs are?
