That is a far as I can go. Have not

I'm having a bit of trouble with vi. If I start vi as root, it works
flawlessly, as a normal user, however, I get "[91m~" as the first
line. Does anyone know where this comes from? It seems to affect every
xwindows type terminal.
I am configuring kppp dialer on mandrake 6.0. It tells me the modem is
busy now matter what. Any ideas? I know the modem ain't busy cause I
just switched over to win95 and started using it. Anyone know what I
might do? thanks in advance. Hey, it boots between Linux and Windoze

Just a question

Hmm, now it is installing its 6.0 self, and my hard drive is a clicking
away. I'm resisting the urge to stare at the screen and try to
understand what all those cryptic things are whipping past me, awks and
groffs and GTKs, I dont know what they hell they are anyway. But I CANT

Am I wrong? Is Mandrake 6.0 really harder to install than 5.2 or RH 5.2

I upgraded my Mandrake 6.0 kernel to 2.2.9-27 ( and all the other
updates as of
16/6/99 ) and had to re-compile the kernel so that my ATAPI CD burner
would use
SCSI emulation. Well the burner is fine, but I now get two error

I'm using slrnpull. So at the prompt I have to direct it to my newsserver and

What program are you using that asks for the nntp server? Typically this is
something you configure in your news reader program.

I'm not sure what's wrong, and it would probably help if we knew the exact
error messages, but I can suggest a couple things.
Next time you reboot, try typing "linux 1" at the Lilo prompt. This should
boot the "linux" image to boot level 1 (single user mode). It won't go

I installed Mandrake from scratch, and I could do a su root when running

Could anyone help me with one or more of the following?
1. SOUND CARD NOT WORKING: I have a Sound Blaster PCI 64, which wasn't correctly
recognized at the moment of installing Venus; it doesn't appear in the list of
sound cards known to sndconfig, should I choose a SB16? what else?
2. OLD HYUNDA
