Ciao a tutti,
Grazie e buona domenica a
tutti!

I'm on a Presario 1800T with a 15 TFT base model monitor. I called

Title: telnet
I have loaded mandrake 7.2 and it is great! But telnet and ftp do not work. I checked /etc/services and they are not commented out. I have a /etc/ hosts.allow and hosts.deny but they are both empty. What to do?
Thanks in advance.

Since only the Dell supplied driver will work in Windows you have received
what in technical terms is known as the shaft.
The card you have, while in fact a Radeon has been in some fashion
manufactured to be proprietary to Dell.
The only option I can see, other than buying a New card,
First of all, telnet is really not the way to go for remote access--look at openssh.
However, in answer to your question, you'll need to check /etc/xinetd.conf, and check to see if in the /etc/xinetd.d directory you have a file called telnet and ftp. These files should look like:
service telnet
Title: telnet
In a typical installation, telnet is not installed.
Try this:
rpm -qa | grep telnet
for verify telnet is
installed.
Thanks, I think that did it!
Do you know if I had configured something wrong, or is this a known
'issue' with mandrake 8, or...??
Thanks!

Hi all,
I just got thru all the possible newsgroups without a proper answer, so here

I'm not able to print from netscape when i'm in a secure site. I get

Netscape is using lpr to print and it works fine if it is not a secure

Thanks!

Hi Mark,
I just went down the road you're on,here's what I did. I have a zoom isa

jumpers on the card set to non-pnp as well. I put the modem on com 3( as set
by the jumpers on the modem). I have reserved irq 5

The first thing I would try is change your current monitor selection away

As for network boot, it is possible through tftp.
You might want to get a manual of the machine first

I'm very pleased with Mandrake 8.0. I have one fresh installation with very
