Regrettably I could not get Mandrake 9.0 to work successfully on my laptop,
and the problem is in the IDE detection code. I have already posted some
information about the symptoms I saw, perhaps they will be useful to the
folks at Mandrake. It seems that the kernel they built does n
n't boot properly because the kernel that Mandrake uses is buggy with
ICH3M, but I'm hoping I can boot using the floppy and then build a new
2.4.20 kernel with stable ICH3M support in it...).

I am using mandrake 8.1 and need ( I have problem with starting linux and found the instrucion on mandrake site)
to execute chroot /mnt command.
I receive the message : chroot: cannot execute /bin/bash : permission denied.
I am logged as root!
