der the K Menu, go to SettingsApplicationsLogin Manager.
There, on the first tab (Appearance) there is a box called Greeting String, in
which you can type any message. Here you can also edit the login box logo and
change your startup background screen (I have a very nice Tolkien one).
Hope that helps,

Hi there,
I'm looking for a KDE network application like Windows' Network Neighbourhood.
Any links would be appreciated,

Hi there,
Hi I just purchased a Voodoo3 3000 and the drivers at the
3Dfx site are there but the one I started to download was
30+ meg. in length not something you want to try on a 24K
modem hookup! :-( I have to wait till someone comes out
with them on CD!

I'm not sure you have the right
Hi there,
Does anyone know how can I install the 3dfx drivers and Glide for Linux
in a Mandrake Linux System??
If you are lucky enough to own a Voodoo card, just head over to...
http://linux.3dfx.com/
and you will find all of the RPMs for device drivers and Glide.
Hope that helps,
Evan
Hi there,
Sorry about this but I must be missing the plot somewhere.
I have a 3dfx voodoo3 card and I have never needed to download
any drivers of any kind. It works perfectly from the box.
Am I missing something
I am running 800x600 32bit true colour with no problems what so ever.
I have
up
casual reports and stuff..nothing heavy.
Thanks in advance,

Hi there,
Ok, I know about using the Ctrl+Alt+(+) keys to change the screen
resolutions, but where/or if can I configure it so that I can use the key
combination to switch from
800 to 640 and back again.
Thanks in advance,

What the hell does the ActiveX control do in your
from or what it even is. All I can say is that it must be something
that Microsoft Outlook is doing, so I have switched e-mail programs in
hopes that it stops. Don't you think that you should have asked me first
what it is rather than writing slanderous messages about me?
Evan Holt
to stop
it, I would greatly appreciate it :-)
For now I'm using a different e-mail program that sends in generic ASCII
(thank goodness). I'm attempting to send e-mail to myself to try and catch
MS Outlook in the act.
Again, apologies to all!

Hi there,
Thanks to Jayce Steadman's carefull eye, the virus has been detected. It
only effects users with Microsoft Outlook 4.0 or 5.0 and the patch can be
found here.

Here is the technical blurb on it...

Uhmmm... perhaps you would enjoy using ctrl-alt- plus and ctrl-alt- minus?
I tried that already...it's currently running at 800*600, but when using
the minus key you would think it would go to 640*480, but it doesn't, it
reverts to a resolution where you
is finished and all of the bugs are worked
out.

Evan,
I
identified my win as a Lucent(DSP) and from a link on the below site found
that there are several manufactures that are writing drivers for Linux.

Hi again,
Just out of curiosity, is the start-up boot manager just an addition to the
Debian versions such as Corel and Storm Linux?
Thanks,

Hi there,
I'm a newbie to Linux, and I know that this might sound like a silly
question, but I was wondering about Visual Basic for Linux. Now I know that
VB is a Microsoft product so VB for Linux would be an oxymoron, but still,
I'm a college student and would rather run it in Linux rather than
Hi there,
I think the start-up screens for Corel Linux and
Storm Linux are great, where you get to choose your OS, rather than the cruddy
text boot manager. Is there any way to make your own (other than using
BootMagic)?
Thanks,
Evan
