Well, I am no expert, but I can try to help you a bit.
Firstly, this is what I do to get my Cable modem working.
as root run netconf.
Go to basic host information, then set eth0 to enabled, and select either bootp
or dhcp, so it will get the ip info automatically.
Also, then set the kernel
I don't know either, but I have traced it down to NETSCAPE.
It seems like some library that netscape uses.
When netscape goes belly up, ld-linux.so doesn't get killed along with it,
and you have to do it by hand.

Yes Mandrake will run on AMD chips.
Right now I am running 7.0 on a K6-233 with 3D/NOW
Pretty nippy performance considering the lowly hardware.

AFAIK the K6 family of processors support the full pentium

Mandrake will run Just fine on your K6-2/400.
I am running it on a K6-233 with 64MB of RAM, and extremely crappy
hardware, and it's flying.
I can do more stuff simultaneously than on Winblowz 95.

works! I realize that there may be security concerns doing it this
way, so two questions for you folks:
A) How do I get inetd to load on bootup?
B) How do I make it more secure?
Thanks and I hope this thread helps others.
