If that's what you want to do, it's your right to do so. As far as your
advice goes, I'll take your advice, and toss it out the window.

Can any one please tell me where to find the 9.2
special update CDs? I tried using bit turrent and I
never got a decent .img.
I would rather download Mandrake 10. and bittorrent
didn't work for me either. it didn't download single
KB in 10 minutes. it just keeps establishing peer
connections
bit torrent is a protocol like ftp to transfer file.
it used peer to peer connection. So you have to first
download and install bit torrent program which will
download CD images automatically using the mirror
information in the bittorrent file that you got. Read
this page to know where to get
I moved my data to a temporary folder and reformatted
that partition in FAT32 using windows, because
Mandrake won't let me write in NTFS even if its
mounted in 'rw' mode. And then I changed global mount
option for the type of that partition from ntfs to
vfat in /ectc/fstab
and now I can access it

I just installed Mandrake 9.2 but cannot write on my
windows partition which is NTFS. So I thought I need
to remount it in read-write mode and I did it. But I
still cannot write on that partition, though it shows
that it is 'rw' when I do mount -l
Thank you all.

But I don't know why can't I still write on that

Subject: [newbie] MP3 players and linux?
Hello all,
I was thinking of purchasing an MP3 player. But since I'd prefer to have to
boot to Windows as little as possible, I'd
ied to use
recomended install but it would not work at all, so i used custom install
and it said istallation finished, but bootdisk step and bootloader step both
failed. i tried to use cd .img file as a bootdisk but it only starts the
install again
thanks Jimmy

Yes, Mandrake will work fine with your cable modem account.
However, it might be best to tell them that you are a Windows user.
