Also, after you check that or make the changes, run /sbin/lilo to write
the boot block back out with the updates. Maybe that got missed after
the previous change?

I have a problem with Linux Mandrae 6.0 (Venus). When I boot
up my computer, the BIOS reads that I have 65535 K of ram (64 megs).
However, when I reach the Shell Log In screen, the system reports that
I have only 16 megs of RAM.
What's the deal? what do I do to make it detect

Can you post the output of the 'free' command? Also, try 'dmesg | grep
Memory' and send that too.

(By the way, at the LILO prompt, I can type "linux mem=64M" and it will
work just fine, but
When I try running Lynx from the console, I get a message,
"Metamail: Can't open temporary file!"
It even happened if I uninstalled metamail. What's up
with that, I can't use X-Windows because my system is too slow, so I
want to use the good old text browser.
