Sure, run 32 bpp! :) The Chips Technologies 65554 doesn't do 32bpp. Since it's a laptop display panel, I'm limited to 800x600 as well. Plus, it dithers colors when they're almost black. Thus if I have a progression from white to black it's smooth until it gets dark. Then it's a sudden

I believe I remember this bug. And I'm not aware of a true fix, but see if this helps (what I was told on another list when I asked this). Run X in another color depth, ie "startx -- -bpp 16" if you normally use startx. I forget what to change to make the default color depth be 16 all the

BTW, the color differences should be rather unnoticable between 16 and 24 bit color. I can see them, and that's what counts. Black white Netscape doesn't bother me too much... I could probably get the source and fix it myself, but I get the feeling that the source is more than a little
