In order to connect with kppp i have to go into linuxconf and connect and
disconnect with the ppp in there then kppp will work fine. Must be doing
something wrong. and it doesn't connect in linuxconf i just have to do that
to connect in kppp. Sounds strange but that's how it works right now.

I had a simular problem. For me the answer was to have the ISP give me another
dial up number connected to a different back bone. The problem you are
expereancing is a very slow connection and you are timing out. You need to
work with your ISP to get a faster dial up response time from them.

One thing i forgot to mention was the fact that i can
get online using network configurator-PPP/SLIP/PLIP. I
don't mind connection this way it's just that i have
to have 4 windows open and i don't know what speed I
am connected at.

Which ISP are you trying to connect too. MSN will not work with standard Linux
stuff. Also some dialup's have problems. I had problems with a local dialup
for earthlink. The only solution was to try a different number hooked in to a
different backbone.
