Hi all,
I'm having trouble connecting to SWAT (http://localhost:901). From Mozilla
it actually tries to connect to www.localhost.com and times out and from
Konqueror I get the following error message:
An error occured while loading http://localhost:901/:
Connection to host localhost is broken

You need to have the package telnet-server-krb5 installed
Old habits die hardthe first way I learned to restart a service (when I
first started admining a linux box back in 1997), was by typing
'/etc/rc.d/init.d/service_name restart'. You can of course, also use
'service service_name restart'.

You should not need to edit any files to get SWAT working.
So long as the xinetd daemon is running, the samba package is installed, and
the host table contains the entry '127.0.0.1localhost', then you should be
able to run SWAT
Can you run the web interface for CUPS and Webmin?
Hi gang
When trying to start SWAT I get the log on screen asking for a username and
password. However nothing I enter allows me access.
I have tried as root and as a user, but to no avail.
Is there a trick to this.

Hello:

Have you discovered
http://localhost:901
?
If you want to share Linux resources with a Windows machine.
Login as root and enter your root password

You might try http://127.0.0.1:901 or at the prompt type in:
ping myMachine
(replace myMachine with the name you gave the machine, possibly localhost)
then use the IP address that ping gives you for SWAT with the :901 appended.
