What controls wether sane will work in mdk or not? I notice that my scanner is in the sane list but yet when I install it it says its unsupported in Mandrake linux. This seems odd. If sane supports it why would mdk not? Others have had the same problem with cannon scanners Mines a canosc

I second that emotion! I've got a Mustek 1200 UB and I am having similar problems. I found a driver on the SANE website and folowed the instructions, but couldn't get GIMP to read it. Wish I had an answer for you. If I find anything in my search, I'll definitely post it. Good luck. ShalomOut Ch

Hello I installed Sane with frontends and backends (from MDK 8.0 install disk) on my desktop computer running MDK 8.0. I can can access my scanner from GIMP, but only get a communication error. I am running an ABIT BP6 motherboard with a pair of Celeron 366's (at 550 Mbps) and 384K PC133 ram.
