I came across the recently-released AudioGalaxy Browser for KDE2 at
http://www.geocities.com/uallloveme/OSS/AGBrowser/index.html
and tried to compile it. However, it would halt with the following message:
checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (= Qt 2.2.2) (libraries) not
found.

I think i found some help for the original problem (C++ compiler cannot
create executables).
one of these (maybe both) might be required for compiling:
libstdc++-devel-2.95.2-3mdk.i586.rpm (or libstdc++-devel-.rpm )
glibc-devel-2.1.2-9mdk.i586.rpm (or glibc-devel-.rpm
