[newbie] Shortcuts

2003-10-22 Per discussione Sendak, John
I have just installed Mandrake 9.2. I tried to copy and paste - using the shortcut ctr+V into Xterm (which seems to be the only terminal available although I thought I had more with Mandrake 9.1). The paste did not work. I checked the shortcut options and they seemed to be set. The ctr+V

[newbie] Blank Screen

2003-08-29 Per discussione Sendak, John
I am running Mandrake 9.1. I left my machine on with Mandrake doing nothing. I came back after about 30 minutes to find that the screen was totally blank. Moving the mouse had no effect. Not getting any response at all, and not knowing what to do, I pressed the off button and then rebooted the

2003-04-01 Per discussione Sendak, John
I wrote earlier that under Mandrake 9.0 I had a message Kenel panic : No init found at boot-up. Thanks to Stephen Kuhn, dfox and Leonardo Diciolla for your advice, but I lacked the confidence and knowledge to follow your suggestions. I tried to upgrade to Mandrake 9.1. After a successful

Thanks for your reply. I thought that the installer had recognized the graphics card, and just accepted what I thought was the detected card - which happened to be the 3D version. I will need to check on the card details and perhaps change the details on a further install. Regards John

Unwittingly, I sent this email out three times before, but - because there has been (and may still be) something wrong with my email - I did not receive a delivery receipt or see the message on the list. So, apologies all round if you are seeing this question for the fourth time.

[newbie] kpackage

Hi Mandrake 9.0 As a user, I appear to have access to kpackage only in a limited way i.e. I can open an rpm with it. As root, however, I have complete access to kpackage i.e. I can open kpackage and see a list of all rpm's installed, by using a menu arrow in the toolbar at the foot of the

[newbie] RPM : Accessing Installed Packages
