I didn't wear ear plugs for the longest time, but the first time I did I
swore I'd never not wear them again. Wind noise practically disappeared,
and the harsher exhaust sounds (supertrapps) with it. I got the low tones
and the engine whine clearly though, and I could hear other vehicles around
me.
You can even modify the foamies to some of the flatter ear buds so you can
listen to music if you don't have a comm system. Better sound quality too.

Well, from all I'm reading I'll probably just leave well enough alone. I
had a Sabre V45 years ago. I was able to pull the baffles from that. They
weren't welded in. I didn't loose any noticeable power and the bike had a
great growl. Not Harley annoying, just a nice mean growl. Wish I coul
If you want to hear more engine note, have you tried wearing ear plugs?
It's counter-intuitive, but I've noticed I can hear my bike much better
with earplugs in versus out, even with a full-face.

+1 Same here you need a drastic change in exhaust to notice anything more
than an increase in noise. Tho only bike to have ever messed with where the
exhaust chànge had a noticeable change in performance was my friend's CBR.
On that bike he replaced basically a cut in half cherry bomb muffler with
When I had my 1993 Nighthawk 750, I just couldn't beat used ones on ebay.
It took me almost a year to the date looking at about 30 crap pairs or
singles every few days in ebay, but I finally found some at a good deal
from a parts yard in FL: $100 shipped per each side (to California.) I was

I've got a '78 550 with a 4 into 4 exhaust setup. One of the pipes
developed a hole, and I ended up replacing the entire set, as I couldn't
find just the one I wanted. The new pipes had 4 holes drilled into the end
of each. I can tell you that those holes make no difference that I can

I have unfortunately never been even close to a real live 83 550. But I do
own a several 84 500's and a 96 750. All of them but one have had the
rivets drilled out and the baffles removed at one time or another. I can
tell you that on the 500, it makes a BIG difference. It's loud. I suspect

Yeah I understand those of you that like the quiet. When I was younger I
couldn't get my bikes loud enough, but now that I'm older I'd rather be
less conspicuous. The problem though is that most of the time I'm riding
with my son, who has a loud bike. So not only am I unable to hear my bike,
