I would go to a OEM parts place like www.servicehonda.com and look up the
part number of the starter and there is a link to show other fitments. Or
just compare the part numbers used on both bikes.

You can rebuild the Nighthawk starters. PO of my 650 did that when his went
out. I think he found a kit on eBay.

Possibly, but they mount on different sides of the motor so the contacts
are in different spots and the shaft lengths might be different.

revving above 3000 RPMs? It should be close to 14 volts or above at about 5000
RPMs I think

Don't go cheap with the batteries ither. Get a sealed agm (batteries
plus, Duracell line is the best) and a true battery tender. That combo
will save you lots of money in the long run!

with 12 or 14 ah. Walmart has inexpensive batteries.

Parts - original parts can be found on eBay. Other parts that are made
today Bike Bandit. They are competitive priced and easy returns if
needed. Plus if you're an AMA member you get a discount.
Given what the PO did to your bike I'd replace the battery anyway.
I think i remember reading somewhere that the 650 and 700 are completely
different engines, but the canadian model (750) has the same bottom end,
just different heads (I believe)... Good luck w/ your rebuild! oh... and

is from a connecting rod that has come loose (usually from a rod
bearing that went out). The rod snaps off, and when the crank shaft
