I need to rejet mine, since I went with the 4-1 exhaust. Did you also went to
stock on the jets, or simply re-adjusted?

Removing the caps and adjusting is for the pilot screws, often confused with a
mixture screw, and is for idle mixture. The washer mod helps richen the main
jet via raising its needle to allow a touch more fuel relative to the air being
allowed by the throttle. It did nothing for my 650 or my 700

Richard,
The washer mod is simply putting one or two #4 washer to shim the needles on
each carb. You can get them at radio shack. It is very easy to do (but you will
need to take out or raise the tank to get to the inner carbs). Most bikes

What you mean? There is always bad traffic on the East Coast! No, but I
took it slow and went through the back roads. I did it previously on my
cbr1000f, which is a lot more comfy than the NH, and with short stops for
gas and drinks I did it in 9hrs, but it was though.
Ok what is the washer mod?

Dave,
I agree with all your points except 2 which I think a matter of personal
choice. For me the riding position on the NH is pretty fine. I rode 12hr
from DC to Boston and it was fine. Obviously I was beaten at the end, but I
would have been with any other bike. I have a Corbin seat, which is mu
I have some Cortech "sport" saddle bags that work a charm on the Nighthawk.
Also, 15T front sprocket for me. Little loss on hill starts, not enough for
me to swap it back.
