No, it is just that the gearing is such (on my 700SC anyway), running and
popping the clutch in 1st just locks the rear wheel and does not turn the
engine over.

Please excuse as I'm sure you already know this. Gas engines need four things
to run, air, gas, spark. And compression. For air, make sure there are no mouse
nests in the airbox, and that exhaust flows from the exhaust pipes (I hate
rodents!). Next pull the plugs and check for spark and compress
pull the plugs! make sure shes not full of fuel! then try to crank it.

will the tire lock up if you try to push it in a higher gear? are you
sitting on it when you push start it? even my 700 pound wing needs me
sitting on it to make enough traction to push start it
