You are using ConTeXt minimals. You are using texexec to generate the
ConTeXt formats (cont-en.fmt etc.). Why would you expect a format file for
pure pdftex to be produced?

2. Can Texfont handle .afm files with extensions in uppercase?
Most of my type1 font files are in uppercase like: XYZ_.AFM I can

since you're new to context you can consider skipping pdftex
Silly me, there was a mismatch between pdftex and ConTeXt version (is
it possible that it was due to excessive use of --keep while updating
Minimals?). Promise to read error messages in the future. I installed
Minimals from scratch today and the list of figures is generated but
only in one flavour
`cont-en.fmt'!
I searched this list and tried texexec --make --all This doesn't solve
the
problem. The problem is located in this part of the output:
did you run 'setuptex' in the tex path first?
Hans
Yes, I did. It makes no difference.
the ./pdftex suggests that your env vars
files with extensions in uppercase?
Most of my type1 font files are in uppercase like: XYZ_.AFM I can only
get Texfont to process these files if I first rename them to lowercase, like

since you're new to context you can consider skipping pdftex and moving
on to either xetex
to lowercase,
like
XYZ_.AFM
since you're new to context you can consider skipping pdftex and moving on
to either xetex or luatex (which uses context mkiv)
for luatex/mkiv you don't need to mess around with fonts as this combo
directly handles afm/pfb files so there is no need for creating
kpsewhich at all) and is pretty fast
the only bit that is still depending on ruby is the index sorting that
is built in texexec (used by pdftex and xetex) but i could not motivate
myself to rewrite that bit
the luatx workflow only uses lua and uses luatex itself as lua
interpreter so
in ruby/perl for a while/forever unless somebody else
rewrites them or unless Hans will need them.
we'll see how many context+pdftex users are around in a few years from
now; of course i'll have a few existing workflows that use pdftex (and
probably for many years) but one seldom needs to generate
before texlua is
called.
Problem 2 (not-solved)
I'm getting the infamous error: I can't find the format file `cont-en.fmt'!
I searched this list and tried texexec --make --all This doesn't solve the
problem. The problem is located in this part of the output:

so context --pdftex ... then should work
Problem 2 (not-solved)
I'm getting the infamous error: I

Yes, I did. It makes no difference.
the ./pdftex suggests that your env vars are not set up; on unix make
sure that you run

i don't know; as the same code
, in ConTeXt's pdftex or luatex mode, it also point to the wrong place.
but Eplain and LaTeX hyperref handle that right...

in the morning, finally I know why
this is so slow on both XeTeX and pdfTeX.
This problem is not an operating system issue, But a ConTeXt feature.
in font-mkii, you use the following to define a actual font
(\definefontlocal and \definefontglobal):
{\expandafter\xdef\csname#1\endcsname
= states.get(rsync.flags.delete)
end
command = format(%s %s %s %s'%s' '%s', bin, normalflags,
deleteflags, url, archives, destination)
This only adds the --delete flag to texmf-context and texmf, others
are not touched. The consequence is that this won't delete your pdftex
binary automatically
Hi, Hans and Jin-Hwan:
When using ConTeXt to produce my documents, I found that all
hyperlinks are wrong. And here is a simple test.
The tex and pdf files are attached in the mail. The problem will happen when:
1) using pdftex to produce the dvi, and use dvipdfmx to convert the dvi to pdf.

:
fill p rotated (i*30) withcolor white ;
endfor ;
for i = 0 upto 2 :
fill p rotated (i*30) withcolor c[i] ;
endfor ;
addbackground withcolor transparent(1,.5,cmyk(0,0,1,0)) ;
\stopMPpage
\stoptext
When process the file using luatex or pdftex, we can see a nice picture there.
However
Hello,
Not that I understand why this happens (bug trigger looks extremely
weird), but if I load bib module, the colors in TikZ graphic are lost.
Commenting out bib module returns the color back. (I remember
reporting lack of colors not so long ago, though I'm not sure if it
was in pdftex

Sorry, I must have been drunk while fixing the file. In
texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf:
TEXFORMATS= .;$TEXMFOS/web2c/{$engine,}
I accidentally fixed TEXMFCNF instead of TEXFORMATS. Hopefully formats
won't fly to luatex/pdftex again. I'll fix.
