As reported Monday by Brendan Fogarty, the clam kill persists.
Combined with the dune lagoons created by Bill made for excellent birding.
The highlights were two Lesser Black-backed on the beach. One 1st year, one
older.
Four Whimbrel. One in a lagoon before the base of the jetty and three flybys
I just want to let birders know in my last message, I did not at all harass
the phalarope by approaching it. I should have indicated that the bird
approached me! The bird seemed very tame and walked right up to within five
feet of me. So any birders that feel I stressed the bird in any way,

In Massachusetts, an apparent adult-plumaged Northern Wheatear has

The Red-necked Phalarope was still present when I left at 12:30pm. He was very
approachable allowing me to get within five feet! He was foraging as well as
preening on the West shore when I was there. White-rumped sandpipers were the
only other birds worth mentioning at the North end. I

"JBWR" stands for Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, and an internet search
may give that as one of the top ten (or so) "hits" in results from a

At about 9:30am yesterday (Tuesday) in Prospect Park in Brooklyn I had
a Summer Tanager in blotchy red/orange plumage, I'd guess probably a
