briefly, but I got some bad
photos before it was chased off by a Red-winged Blackbird. I could not relocate
the bird after that, but I don't think it left the area, so it's possible the
bird may continue there.

The Martin was still being seen by Matthieu Benoit, Janet Labelle and I through
about 6:50 this evening. Toward the end of the day, it was foraging more over
the north side of the peninsula.

Hi All,
Late this afternoon, there was a very nice drake BARROW'S GOLDENEYE which I
viewed from Orchard Beach as it foraged with a raft of Common Goldeneye just
off High Island (the island with the big antennas). The bird was still there
when I left.

Standing in the same spot south of the Pelham landfill where we stood
yesterday, Matthieu Benoit and I again managed to find a Cave Swallow. We

Late afternoon through sunset today, there was a nice flight of Common
Nighthawks taking place. From the parade grounds, I counted 23 in an hour. I

11/29, in the small saltmarsh northwest of the landfill, I flushed a Wilson's
Snipe. Other uncommon species included American Woodcock, Orange-crowned

Hi All,
In addition to the Red-headed Woodpeckers seen by others today, I had 3-4
Sharp-tailed Sparrows in the peninsula of salt marsh just south of Turtle Cove
and City Island Rd. One of the birds was definitely an Atlantic Nelson's, and I
think one (see bad photos and notes in checklist linked
included a CLAPPER RAIL and
11 warbler species including a male BAY-BREASTED WARBLER.

Hi All,
In addition to Andrew's post, in the area west of the steel bridge in Turtle
Cove on the wood chip path behind the driving range, a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER
continues. I also had a calling COMMON RAVEN. This area has been very birdy
lately with particularly high numbers of SWAMP SPARROWS.

Hi All,
Jack Rothman and I checked out Edith Read Sanctuary in Rye, NY and had some
nice highlights. Scanning from the beach south of Playland Pond, we found 1
Razorbill, over 400 Long-tailed Ducks, ~20 White-winged Scoters, 13 Black
Scoters and 2 Purple Sandpipers. On Playland Lake and environ
looks, a lone Dunlin
on the beach, and around 190 Common Goldeneye which is the most I've ever seen
at this location.

Spent around 2.5 hours in the Turtle Cove section of Pelham Bay Park yesterday.
When I first arrived, I had a pair of Common Ravens mobbing a Red-tailed Hawk
(I'm guessing the same pair that nested on a building in co-op? I've been
consistently seeing a pair in the park throughout Nove
of at least
according to the BNA account. But again, views are not the greatest. Nothing
like staring up at an apartment building with a spotting scope to make you look
like a weirdo!

We did not see the Orange-crowned, but a Juv. Cooper's Hawk passed through the
lot. I was with Jack Rothman and later joined by Arie Gilbert and Gene Loscalzo
who and also got great views.
