HOW LONG BEFORE IT IS ME LAYING THERE ?
This is a question I ask myself repeatedly James (...but you know
that).
I didn't want to utter it in/on this forum.
I'm afraid of tempting fate
Hearing *you* do so, underscores the seriousness of our plight in
Observatory.
Because you have always
All Obs said was it was not connected to the festival - Obs is not in denial
that it took place in their space. newspapers (unfortunately) said it WAS
the festival. This is inaccurate. Your comments are noted but not
appreciated. I speak for myself only as a resident in Obs.

Thanks for this post Teun. I agree with you completely, as I think,
will the OCA the ONW and the sector 1 CPF, for we are all working on a
formal request to the Premier, the Mayor, and the Commissioner of
Police to call on them to cause the people under their control to do
their jobs.

I'd like to add my tuppence worth of not appreciating Teun's letter.
Many Obs residents are extremely active in trying to keep the suburb
in good shape - not least by protesting against the liquor licences
that seem to get issued at the drop of a hat.
It's perhaps pushing things a bit to say that
Who is responsible for enforcing the law and policing the clubs in
Lower Main Road?
Obs residents (members of the ONW and NAG and the Subforum) spend many
hours late at night with two-way radios monitoring what happens in
Lower Main and reporting this to SAPS - and calling for action.
Whether
Damn right - it was a murder WAITING / TO / HAPPEN !
Just as the now-too-many-others have been !
And just as those still to come will be.
Nicely said Rob !
Magnificently said Brian !
I am as frustrated and as angry as you are !
There are a few remarkable folk in Observatory who work damn
Dear Teun
It is extremely sad that a person had died on Lower Main Road Observatory,
bleeding to death from a stab wound after he embarked from a club
(apparently were put out) at approx 2 am in the morning. It is one death
too many!
Although it is a bit late, I extend sincere condolences on
Wit all due respect, Teun, you are way out of line. As evidenced by
others notes there are people working tirelessly to solve the
problems.
It is inaction and indifference from SAPS and the other authorities
that is the problem. Right down t making up all these silly new laws
that will never be
• “The incident occurred well after the Observatory Festival of Arts
had shut down for the evening. “
• “Over to SAPS. “
• “Having looked at the facts we feel that this incident was unrelated
to the festival – having happened both outside of the festival borders
and many hours
Thanks Trev!! And you will have my keen support to build something good for
next year if you want me in. J

Dear Observatory residents,
The Observatory Festival of Arts and the OBSID would like to thank all local
residents and business owners for their patience and understanding. This
weekend’s events have been a learning curb for both parties.
We were disappointed at finding out that residents
I have read various online reports, twitter reports, newspaper reports
(Cape Times, Voice, Argus) and with the exception of the typical Voice
headline and pictures, found the reporting to be objective and fair.
This is based on my own witnessing of the event shortly after the
stabbing took place.
He was Andrew Aminiel - a foreign national from central Agfrica somewhere.

God Trevor. What a disturbing and distressing account. We stayed
away from the festival due to the perception that it was the same
story - a giant multi-day festival that would attract plenty of people
wanting to stir up s%^t and get wasted; unlike the old 1 day festival.

How unfortunate that KFM news has reported a murder took place at the Obz
