When we do that, we stick the disk directly onto the SAS/SATA bus, then
offline the drive and ship it ... I still have visions of the computer
failing when someone plugged in a USB keyboard and took Solaris 10 over the
limit for devices, destroying the pool (we were able to get some of the
drives b

May be a silly question but do you have the interface plumbed before you
tried doing ipadm? If so you may want to unplumb it before you start. (You
always need the -a for address)

Thanks, I did just that last night :)

I remember moving a zone in a terrible hacky way in the past ...
run a "zoneadm -z detach", move the zfs the old fashioned way (zfs
send/receive) zonecfg -z and change the location, then zfs attach it
back in again.
not sure how to (un)do what you've done though ...

I have my old hard drive (80Gb) which has dual boot OI/Ubuntu on it ...
The Ubuntu has died, the OI is not in the greatest shape, but has a lot of
my useful code and apps already installed in it.
I replaced the drive (I could mount the old one to get the files off, but I
couldn't boot it well) wi
or do what I did, and just put an init.d script early on to run the

We have had a lot of success with LSI SAS controllers, the 8i PCI express
retails for under 70 quid. We do not use expanders but buy more controllers
as needed. (Our bigger servers sometimes use the 16i controllers but they
are more expensive)

I had trouble in the past with KVMs, but most of that was due to memory
restrictions ... do you have loads of swap space (you need more than the
amount of memory you are allocating to the KVM) and I had loads of trouble
granting more than half of the physical memory in the box ...
what exact error
my "standard" KVM startup command:
MAC=$(dladm show-vnic -po macaddress kvm0)
/usr/bin/qemu-kvm \

-smp 4 \
-m 4096 \
-no-hpet \
-localtime \
-boot order=c,menu=off \
-drive file=/dev/zvol/rdsk/rpool/kvm/
As I just commented in the other thread, the only time I've used lpsched
was when I was transferring a lot (>100) of printers from another lpsched
system ... If someone could make a "convert" script from a printers.conf
file to a CUPS config I wouldn't even have used lpsched.

I know it's a little off-topic, but have you thought of creating a zpool on
the USB stick and seeing how that goes?
ZFS on Linux works well for removable media, assuming you can "sudo zpool
import"

PS. I generally end up dd'ing with a block size of 4M to get maximum
throughput.

no it's global as well as non-global, but I've only tested in 151a8, I
don't have a hipster available to check at the moment, and it might well
have been fixed in that.

sendmail manually it love as mail.info

anyway, I've got a working system, and I can grep syslog for email
addresses, so that's a win!
Thanks everyone.
