If some one interested to test or review
here is the current version of Pulseaudio, on
http://pkg.toc.de/userland
you can find the latest version of pulseaudio packaged for OI.
(but without Gary's patch for #9732)

since one month or so I see the problem that the volume control applet is not
working any more for me and on logout I get the notice
that mate-settings-daemon is still running
The reason behind is that there some pulsaudio processes hang:
1399 /usr/sbin/lightdm
2259 lightdm --session-child 13
Check the current sound level with audioctl.

This morning I tested in liveDVD solaris 11.3 to see the audio support on
the Laptop. There's a big difference. The sound is clear and heavy. Yet the
drivers are the same.
Maybe the sound management under Mate is less efficient.
I did the same test on My desktop with the asus D1 sound card and

Good to hear!
With some chipsets it seems that
After updating and rebooting, I have a good sound improvement on my Lenovo
Laptop T400.
It's not as strong as under Linux in comparaison but there is a good
improvement.

Hi,
Pulseaudio is now delivered as 64-bits in /usr/bin.
As usual Pulseaudio may not able to cope with its own configuration files
when version or bitness is changed ...
If Pulseaudio does not start after reboot, you may need to remove the
configuration files in ~/.config/pulse/ ...

hey guys
i noticed that OI-hipster automatically pulled in PulseAudio pkg during last
upgrade. was that necessary? i'm under the impression that OI has its own
sound system.

Hi,
After changing the permissions on the ~/.config/pulse directory,
removing the directory contents and restarting pulse everything was
working. I could logout and log back in and no errors.
When I restarted my computer the directory permissions changed to

Hi,
The below was created due the permissions set on the pulse directory in
.config, the permssions were rwx-- changing the permissions to add
group access resolved the issue.

Jon,
Did you get the NX server running on Solaris/OpenIndiana? I was almost
successful but couldn't get all the components compiled and running.

Okay, I just compiled opennx to get a client (which involved compiling

in which case I can probably just tar up the /usr/NX directory and get you
to test it at your end?

Totally agree!
I looked at Xspice as an alternatief to ALP but you need a 10 Gbps
network if people want to use youtube.
The Sun Ray is really light-weight for simple multimedia and even works
well over WAN connections.
As for pulsaudio. Xspice also needs pulsaudio to be able to transfer

did anybody try to compile pulseaudio for OI, so far? It should be possible as
