Wondering what happened with your case on Aug 17th as shown
below? We are running SAP also and have no problems but when
I try to post transactions into the same database using OCI I
hit into the exact error you get below. I have ruled out all
the other Oracle bugs so I guess it is a new
I cannot figure out why it will be complaining for contract
id (ctdid) header not present in /usr/include/sys/siginfo.
Once again this is probably something really trivial and 101
but I can really use some input.
It's not complaining about the header not beeing there but ctid_t not
I'm running into this as well on a HP DL585 running 10 6/06.
My machine locks up after 2hours and 55 minutes of runtime.
Every single time.
I had EXACTLY the same time.
I did the following:
- set ata-dma-enabled=0 (in /etc/system)
- updated the 5i driver to version 1.6
- not connect any
We are unable to investigate more ... hangs happens after
about 4 hours. Nothing on the logs, nothing on the console.
Hangs happens with server idle or busy.
Any suggest?
S10U1 is running fine on those machines ..
I have had EXACTLY had the same issue - and believe it or not, fixed it
Anyone have the experience of install mysql of oracle on zfs?
Yes to both and Postgres as well, no problems experienced
I did today heavy Oracle stress testing in a zone on Solaris 10 6/06 and
encountered various ORA-0600:
ORADPL:2006.08.17 20:41:53 (ret=-1) ORA-00607: Internal error
I have a likewise problem with our DL585 - it's not hanging on boot but
after some time, the last four times it stopped it was almost every time
after about 3 hours of runtime.
I'm doing stresstests on the machines (zones with SAP and Oracle/MaxDB) but
even at night, if there's no load at all,

It was one of the biggest shocks to me when I moved from the
U.S. Germany is particularly bad, sysadmins and consultants
there are slapping Windows on vanilla PCs by the cartloads.
When something needs done fast, the first thought is to slap
Windows on because it's so easy and
He's pointing out how the rest of the universe outside of Sun sees
Linux. I can't say I disagree with him on his point. Not that *I
personally* see Linux as a safe bet, but that decision makers
definitely do. The tech press (which lots of CIOs read)
portrays Linux

hehe... this reminds me of HP Openview ICM Tool which is 100%
Java but requires Windows, Tivoli Client and Desktop which
both are 100% Java but don't run unless your OS is supported...
Yes... It's a BadThing(TM)...
But there are also good news:

He's probably not the only one. I'm too still holding my
breath waiting for my OpenSolaris t-shirt.
BTW: Fabian and I received the T-shirt last week!
Same here - got it last friday (Germany here)
Thank you!!!

For the most part, all Linux systems are debug systems.

We run Linux in all our production environments on different platforms
(IA64, X86_64, X86) and I'm personally VERY happy with it. Production means
SAP databases/instances with ~ 900 users. Although SAP is not a benchmark
itself
That's great news, Sara. Thanks for all your persistent
work with the
fulfillment company to make those shirts *finally* fly the coop!
I hope that everyone wears them in good health. :-)

For the two shirts I got, I think I have to thank Sara twice ;)
Just curious -
Solaris 10 and Express include two admin guis, the java based
smc gui and
the web based webmin gui. To configure your system to run
webmin, run
/usr/sfw/bin/webminsetup and answer it's questions. To run
smc, simply login to a desktop session and run /usr/sbin/smc.
Yes - but one of the
smc has a CLI tool for most of what can be done with the GUI.
The CLI for smc is in /usr/sadm/bin/sm*
It isn't curses based though.
Yes - then I could use the useradd command also - I have to read the
manpages to get all the option...

I wanted to say that I need to fiddle with lots of option in both cases
/usr/sadm/bin/sm* and useradd. I'm thinking of something like...
