RC1 on ppc. The initrd is created (BTW: you need a initrd, no
initramfs!). At the bootloader configuration screen in YaST, I am not

Have a look at /var/log/YaST2/* - and please save *all* the log files
Sounds like an improvement to me compared to slocate

(no reboot) and then went on its merry way. My CDs are good.. that is
