Hello Sandy -
I've lost a number of plants to squirrels myself; I do not know whether
keiki paste can save them or not, but I can send you my recipe for 'Squirrel
Sauce Picquant'
- I've started to permit my son to target
Fake snakes work in my pear trees to keep birds and squirrels out, however,
there are two caveats. You need to reposition the snake every couple of
days, AND you need to alert family members to what you have done;)

A bb gun for those cute furry little forest friends? I would prefer something
involving at least 220 volts of high amperage - but they squirm so when you try
to strap their little arms down. We must remember that they are essentially
rats with more fur that have developed 'cute' activities
Hi Peter -
I have to argue with you on this issue; I've tried
spraying with hot sauce, to no avail. Two years ago, I
mixed a pound of ground cayenne with a pound of white
grease, and smeared the mixture on the legs and tops
of my wooden orchid racks (think 6' tall saw horses).

For the past three years, I have used one HAV-A-HART trap placed
strategically between my orchids and tomato plants. Itworks.
When I trap a squirrel, I take it LIVE to a cemetery where I release it.
Many nut trees.
I also have a terrier who often sleeps near the trap. Good
deterrent.
I used to own a 40 acre pecan grove that bordered a woodlot and got to like the
taste of pecan fattened squirrel, much better than eating crow (they, the
crows, destroyed many more nuts than they ate trying to pick them out of the
husks to eat);-)

- I've started to permit my son to target them with my BB rifle. Incredibly
and maddeningly destructive - for some reason, encyclia and certain laelia
p'bulbs are very attractive to them.
Hi Peter,
Please don't let you son use the BB rifle on those

Capsaicin may very well be effective against squirrels (although I haven't
found that to be the case...I used to rub pure habanero pepper all over my
old bird feeder, then add it to the seed, to no avail...) but Tabasco sauce
contains too much sodium and vinegar...I learned that the hard way,
