I managed to solve the issue, the problem was the crontab file was pointing to
$home/otrs and not /opt/otrs once I changed this, it worked fine.

You can go to Terminal and type "sudo perl -MCPAN -e shell". Once inside CPAN,
type "install IO::Socket::SSL". After you finished the installation go back to
otrs bin folder and run ./otrs.checkModules to see if the install was
