Hello Group
What program can you recommend to convert files to MP3?
Maybe I should ask what program do you use to convert music files to MP3
format?

Subject: Converting to MP3?
Hi,
When I try to register for getmusicfree.com, I get directed to another site,
which is fine. Then, after submitting my e-mail address and name, an offer
popps up: win an ipod nano. This is getting on my nerves--and, when I try to
log in, it just tells me that a log on error has occured.
Looking at Gold Wave's details I see it converts to a 24 bit file.
Previously I posted inquiring about a recording software to record at 128
bit. Perhaps there is an MP3 converter that will do that as opposed to a
recording software? Below is the requirements for my MP3s, perhaps I'm
amiss but
Hello. There are many programs out there to do this job and many people on
this list use different things.
I use audiograbber because it is very speech friendly and has a wide codec
support.
Do a google search for it and you will find it easily.

Hi Folks:
Using the free scripts, I am unable to gain full access to the options in the
Record dialog of Sound Forge 8.0B.
Has anyone done any work on this issue? If so, how so?
I have tried using the WinDig program to gather information about the various
windows contained in the dialog;
Look over GoldWave more closely,
you will find that you fcan choose from many different rates.

If you already own a copy of goldwave, there's no reason not to use it for
this project, especially as it has the recursive functionality I think you
were asking about earlier. But, If you don't already have Goldwave, I'd
recommend using the file converter that is part of Easy CD-DA Extractor;
OK I'll check that out thanks. Now for another question then. If Gold Wav
will do that but my Sound Forge 5.0 won't, and perhpas not the latest
version of Sound Forge either, in your opinion how does Gold Wav stack up
to Sound Forges editing and effects?

Before, Switch program is available for download. but, right now, I think,
there is no available Switch program that you can download. If you want, I
can send you the file.
Hi Brad,
I can't make that comparison, because I don't have SoundForge.

OK. I did look at Gold Wave on line, and the featured details only show a
24 bit sound bit. Being you have it, can you tell me will it do a 128 kbs

years, I remember it as a shareware program with simple usage, it seems

Hi Dick! If you have a program like Soundforge, you can use their Batch

Hi Brad,
Yes it will!
If I want to change a file to something specific, here is what I do.
I open the file in GoldWave, and then just choose the save as dialogue, and
then save the file with the attributes that I want.
Example I may open a .wav file, and then save it as an mp3, at 44.100,
128kbps
hello all,
what is the best programs for converting mp3 files to CDA without actually
burning them at the same time.
i know nero will do it as it burns them but i don't want them to be burnt
until a later time.
thanks.

PC-Audio List Help,
I don't understand why you would want to do such a thing. So far as I
understand, CDA is NOT a media format, like WAV or MP3. It's just the format
that exists on a CD once a file has been burned to CD.
If you want to play a media file from your hard drive, keep it in WAV, MP3,
or whatever
Hi Pete,
Can't do it.
The CDA extension is just a pointer on the disk to the file.
.CDA files are not playable by audio applications, as you would .wav,
or.mp3.
So why would you want to convert files before you burn them anywaywhen it is
part of the audio creation process?

hello r q j,
thanks for that, i thought that was probably the answer.
i was checking for a friends daughter who has an external cd writer which
is rather slow and doesn't have buffer protection therefor when she tries
to use nero to create an audio cd from mp3 files it quits giving a buffer
error
Pete,
Based on my experience with others with similar problems, I would guess that
she doesn't need a better/faster CD writing program, so much as she needs a
faster CPU/more RAM, to handle the demands her current software is making,
in the CD writing process.
Blessed Be,
Dana
that's Dayna,
Sorry to jump in here, but can you do the same with .mid files (open a .mid
file, and save it as, say, .mp3?)
thanks

Well, slow shouldn't be a problem,
I burn at 4x.
Maybe the settings in Nero need a little tweak?
I know there are some buffer settings in Nero 5.5, but I haven't looked at
them in a long time.
And of course, Nero seems to picky about what burners it will work with.
Good luck,

Hey thanks. That helps. I downloaded the GoldWav trial version and messed
around with it. It is nice, a little different than Sound Forge in areas,
but I can use Sound Forge's plug-ins within the program so best of both.
Thanks for the tip, I'll try that.

Yes, and try burning at a slower speed (4x is the slowest for nero).

A .mid file is a sequencing file that plays sounds. It does not have the
actual sounds in it, which is why it's not a sound file as such.

Wow, converting to mp3 is done by so many programs e.g. cdex, nero,
accoustica, easy_mp3, among others, even winamp will do it, and I
usually burn at about 32X since anything more than than that causes
errors on my system. The effective burn speed is about 15X though

Hi BD,
Razorlame does a good job of converting wave files to what ever mp3 khz
and kbps's you want. Email me off list for the program. If you download it
off the net, it comes in 2 parts and I've zipped the files in to one folder.
How computer savvy are you? It's quite simple to set up.
