Neither RF or Bluetooth require line of sight. You're probably thinking of infrared, and I doubt you'll find a wireless headset using infrared. Bluetooth is digital, so you should get better quality and no static, but only a range of 30 feet or less. RF will give you much more range, but maybe

Jim, What range are you getting from the system? Is the $85 price the best you've seen? The reviews were mostly favorable except for the guy who said his didn't work at all, and the one who mentioned a buzz when charging from the USB port. How much battery life are you getting on a charge?
