Download a format 4 version of the book you want to play and see if it plays.
If it does and the enhanced version doesn't play, you don't have the softpack.
If neither plays, then perhaps you've lost your audible key and you need to
reauthorize your player.

That only applies if he has a 2nd generation stream. I assume that he has the
older Stream and will need a softpack to play enhanced audio books.

Format 4 books will play without the softpack. Again, assuming that you've got
a first generation Stream, you need the softpack to play enhanced audio, but if
you have a 2nd generation Stream, the softpack is incorporated in the firmware.

The stream does not say there is a softpack because it is in the firmware

If you are using the new stream as in "new generation", the softpack is no
longer used. It is included. You format the sd card in the Victor Stream
by:
1. put the sd card in the stream.
2. Turn on the stream.
3. Press the number seven until hearing "format card"
4. Press the okay button. Th

Do you have the softpack for the Stream? I presume this is a first generation
stream. If you don't have the softpack, the enhanced audio format is not
supported by the Stream. If you do have the softpack, I'm not sure why the
Audible book won't play.
I believe you can format the card through

What Audible format is the file? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5? The Stream and most players
will only play Audible 4.

Please don't give up and throw away your credits, if you feel audible are

I just went to My Library. On the homepage of the regular Audible website,
search for "library" without "my."
The so-called accessible version has limitations. I don't recall what they
are, but I do remember deciding they rendered it useless to me.
