Hi all,
I have an Acer laptop running XP Home, and I'm using Jaws 11 latest build.
Frequently, the sound crackles like a 1920s long-distance call or bad A.M.
radio.
MY IT guy says he installed the latest drivers for the sound card, etc., but
the problem persists. I know I could get a USB sound
plugged in to the
laptops headphone/lineout jack. and I get much better sound of it now. it's
worth a tr.

Jörgen Hansson!

Ford,
Thanks for the reply. I'll answer one question, and thanks for the rest.
This began as soon
a program called: meow multi sound converter. You
can convert audio files to different formats, as well as converting from
stereo to mono, or mono to stereo.. I use it all the time, and I find it
to be speech friendly! Hope this will help you.

I just did about six at one time and they worked. Tho they landed in the mp3
section of my documents\my music\mp3, where I don't usually go
encoder settings,
choose mono and the bitrate you want, then from the convert menu choose
re-encode compressed audio file.

that putting them there isn't the ideal solution, but I have just
spent some time trying to change it and like you, can't
find how to. Perhaps someone else can say if they have found a way.
Thanks,

Hi all,
I've lost my hearing in one ear (the left) because of a complicated brain
tumor story. But when I work out, I still prefer to have some rock music in
one ear bud.
I have a copy of EZ CD/DVD Creator, a fairly recent build, and the designer
sent me a file he said would merge to two

An amplifier inside of a pare of USB speakers, will.
Sometimes, those speakers will be equipped with their own sound cards that
uses the USB inter face in order to marry them to your computer.
My best regards.

I have both my HP printer and my Microtek scanner plugged into USB ports on
the back of my 6-year-old Dell desktop, leaving two USB ports in front of
the tower for convenient docking of flash drives and such stuff.
No problems at all. Those devices, I believe, were meant to be powered
