Patrick, I know of no way to cause the V U meter in Total Recorder to give a reading in db. This doesn't mean that there is none, rather that I just don't know about it. I think that one can do that in Gold Wave; however, I have not found a way to read the V U meter in Gold

Thanks Donald, I never tried Total Recorder but being able to read the V U meters is a great feature and I am going to check it out. I'd think that in Window-Eyes a hyperactive window could be set up around the V U meters and have them read automatically when they are at a certain value.
