I haven't seen a ceramic cartridge sense the seventys. I think that all turn tables have magnetic cartridges now. Most turntables have 78 speed. YOu could probably by a cheap one at radio shack. I bought a numark turntable that has 78 speed for about $250. I have heard on the email lists

More than likely, you will need a phono pre-amp. Some inexpensive turntables have a built in one, but the higher end ones didn't. If you have to connect the turn table to the phono in on your amplifier or receiver, then you will need a pre-amp to use it with your PC. Hope this is helpful, /
