I'm on a clean installation of 0.47.1 on Puppy Linux (Slacko), and I'm trying
to get the font weight to "normal" instead of bold. The -font-weight flag
doesn't seem to help.
When I run PD I get the following:

Last time I checked, Deken had an outdated version of iemguts. Since iemguts
now includes [initbang], it would be nice if this were made available to
Vanilla users without having to manually download and install. Is it possible
to update Deken to the latest version from the git?
The problem is coming from the "read_number_memory" subpatches, where the [text
search] and [text set] objects are not linked to a text buffer. I can't tell
exactly why this is. Could it be because the creation arguments are confused?
($1 in the [text define] object, $2 in the abstraction).

If you're looking for a toggle with a preset 1 or 0, then there is the "init"
option from the properties which will save and load the value for you.

Fair enough, I can see why it would be useful.
In case anyone else wants it, here is what I've been using to block
iemguts/initbang when the patch is opened for editing rather than loaded as an
abstraction. It's just a closed spigot that opens when $0 produces a value for
the parent level canva
Vanilla now has the nice feature that lets you resize objects with the mouse.
Is there any way of detecting this from inside the patch? It doesn't turn up in
iemguts/receivecanvas, but if I could somehow receive the new coordinates, then
I could program the patch to adapt to the new size.

they're there for a reason, but there are some legitimate uses of certain
objects that still generate error messages, and it would be nice to suppress
them, at least while the patch is loading.
Many objects (ie. [osc~]) have a sort of a hybrid inlet which accepts
both signal and data input. However,
the [inlet~] object seems to reject data. If I wanted to build an
abstraction with an [inlet~] that accepts both signal and data, is there
any other way?

I am looking for a way to sense if a particular subpatch object has been
selected in the parent window (selected as in highlighted in blue on the
screen). [iemguts/canvasselect] almost does it for me, but not quite. This
