That 12 hours is from route mapping software. It of course does not take into consideration rush hour traffic, road construction, accidents, and flying saucers landing. It is also from city center (Manhatten, my post was aimed at AnnSan). I think you can plan on a couple hours from the airport.

Been meaning to say with this thread- the Tamron 28-200 f3.5/5.6 is not only too slow for this task, BUT if you have an older version of this lens as I do (mine is the 71D), the focussing distance is waay to long for indoors, it is over 2 metres and most of your stuff won't be within this range
