I have accurate information that it is smaller than the D80 apart from one
dimension where is is about 2mm more.
I suspect that it is the width, something to do with the grip size.

Nope, the Mamiya ZD, Canon 1Ds mkII and Canon 5D have already solved that.

That's why the 1800 has one of the highest clogging rates of any of the
latest Epson printers!
The R2400 is worth every penny, minimal issues, better image quality :) -

Raw rules!
But in addition to PEF (if they insist on keeping it), please implement
compressed DNG properly with full sized embedded JPEG "in-camera" as an
option.
Smaller file sizes = faster write times = more shots per card = less time
dumping to storage tanks (saves batteries/charge) = also l
That would make AF possibly even faster than any in-lens motor system and
makes all the legacy glass have AF as well!
The challenge I see is that, apart from wide angle lenses, the sensor
wouldn't be able to move anything like far enough! Imagine a 200mm macro
range!

Okay, lets see, something you get with 6x7 and not 35mm Mmmm
1) Slow
2) Heavy
3) Huge mirror slap
4) Interchangeable prisms
5) Limited shutter speed range
6) BIG images
7) Large DN (down to film though)
;-)

Now that's very interesting!
A tilt and shift sensor, that would be really neat! Never mind automatic,
you could control it with the 4 way control or maybe even the hyper-program
wheels.
