I bought the MV with the 40 f2.8 for $100 in San Francisco in 1981. If
was a small, light camera that performed well for many years, until the
advance clutch broke in 2000.

Is the Pentax MV any good? Just curious...--
People may tell you otherwise, as it's a totally uncool camera by pro wannabee
standards.
I love my MV. It's very light, meters well, is unobstrusive and fits all my Pentax
lenses. You basically don't set anything on it except the manual focus, so

It's essentially a stripped down ME, as such it's as good as an ME.
I've been happy with the one I have for it's purposes.

I've had a few offers trickle in overnight.
It's gone to an Old Pentax Bodies Retirement Home in Dave Letterman's home
town. It'll be with others of his kind. It should be happy now...

Frank,
Ya, I watched that auction for a while but didn't end up bidding. Didn't it
have some lens or winder with it? I figured it should be an easy fix. I
just replaced the rewind knob on a Super Program and it was really simple.
Just get the axle past the retaining clip and screw on the
figured that for $20, the MV
was worth it for the lens alone. If the body worked: bonus! The buyer said he
didn't know if the body worked, because he didn't have batteries for it.
As it turns out, the body seems fine - except the rewind knob. At $20, it
wasn't much of a gamble, but I think I came
2 S76 / A 76, or 1 DL1/3N.

Hi,
Just got an MV today that I bought on eBay. It has no batteries in it -
which is why it was so cheap ($20 with an m 2.0 50mm). As I said
before, I really got it for the lens, to put on my new MX. The MV
body is a bonus.
Anyone out there know which batteries go into it?
thanks,
frank
Same as the ME I'd guess, as the MV is basically a striped down version of the ME. At
one time I owned an MG, which I believe is the model in between the MV and ME and it
was a pretty decent little camera.

I have been using a single CR-1/3N 3 volt lithium battery to replace
two of the other batteries you mentioned and I get a lot better service
out of it. It is also usually cheaper than the two it replaces. I use
them in the ME Supers and ME that I have.

I was taking that into account.

Yeah, but you are buying two 357s compared to the one CR-1/3N I buy.
