This morning I ordered an istDS. I'd like to thank EVERYONE who, over the
past couple of weeks or so, has replied to my many questions about the
camera and how various features and lenses work. I've thanked a few people

about.. The DA14 for a rectilinear and the Zenitar 16 fish-eye are
the ones to have. Both have their place.

I don't know if there's any substantive difference between the DNG program
that comes with ACR 3.1 and the one that came with ACR 2.4, but it

Looking at the 5n viewfinder (also applies to the DS), there is a little
(minus) on the right edge of the slider and a little (plus) on the left edge of
the slider. Since I need near-sighted correction (i.e., negative diopters), I
push the slider all the way to the right when I am not wearing my g

allow me to
focus without wearing my glasses. It would be great if the DS

My D has enough correction for me to leave my reading glasses home --
+2 is the max I think. I think the S is the same. I have it set at
about +1.8. Prior to buying that camera I had forced myself to learn to
focus with my left eye. It's nice to be back to shooting righty.

The eye cup on the DS is a different design that wraps entirely around
the viewfinder frame. Much more difficult to knock off accidentally.
(I've though about trying one on my D but the eye cup for the zx5n works

cup to me ;-) from my DS ... the replacement ($30!) fits more snugly
