Thanks for responses to my message and for your kind words.
Sorry, - the server was down last night, and might have some downtime
in the next few days, - as it is being transferred to a new network.
(This will also affect PUG server, - but I'll try
to do my best to minimize the disruption.)

Igor,
I saw the man speak 30 years ago at a professional meeting.
It's a shame about his physical disabilities.
Regards, Bob S.
His physical disabilities are what they are. They don't seem to have
affected his mental abilities in any way.

I saw him "speak" through a grad student about 30 years ago at
Harvard. While there's not question that I feel sorry for anyone in
that condition, he has lived a remarkably long time with ALS and has
essentially had a full career. What I find most interesting is that
his condition has denied him
I attended a lecture he gave here in the bay area around 10 years ago.
I was, of course, aware of his career from a much earlier date - I was
at Cambridge from 1968 - 1971 (reading Mathematics & Computer science),
which was when he (and Penrose) were redefining theoretical physics.

He is one of the most known popular science advocates. He appeared
in several different TV shows and played and was portrayed in a variety
