Yes, there are SMC Pentax filters. They are not available in all sizes - 49mm, 52mm, 58mm, 67mm, and 77mm only, if I recall, IAC, just sizes for Pentax lenses. They are available in UV, Sky, and a few B&W contrast colors, plus pol. I just purchased a few skys, and I am very, very h

I really don't know if getting a SMC filter will help a whole lot, as SMC lenses have the coating on all glass-air surfaces, not just the front element. It will help if he is currently using cheap filters, that are either single coated or uncoated. But I don't think throwing a SMC filter on an

The three best UV filters I know are: Canon Prt (not the UV) UV of B+W Nikon ones ! I do not know Pentax makes some UV !!! But the 3 I mensioned, have a very good advantage : Neutral color !!! Hoya is blue in the cheaper version and yellow in the HTMC version
